We are thrilled to announce the launch of TheraHive's Adolescent Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT-A) Skills Group program! This innovative program is specifically designed to support teens aged 14-17 as they navigate life's challenges and develop critical mental health skills in a safe, supportive, and engaging environment.

At TheraHive, our leadership team brings over 20 years of experience running both adult and adolescent DBT programs. With this wealth of experience, we are excited to introduce our first adolescent program where teens participate in groups with their peers, learning together and supporting each other through shared experiences. While this is just the beginning, we plan to expand our adolescent offerings in the future, with options like multifamily versions of the program already on the horizon.

What Is DBT for Adolescents?

Our Adolescent DBT Skills Group program is built around four key modules adapted to the unique needs of teens:

  • Distress Tolerance
  • Mindfulness
  • Emotion Regulation
  • Interpersonal Effectiveness

Each module starts with a self-paced orientation session to introduce teens to the platform and prepare them for success. Throughout the program, participants will engage in weekly activities that combine online coursework with live, interactive group sessions. Teens will spend one hour per week completing course content and then come together for one hour of live group support with their "Hive," guided by expert coaches.

For those who miss a session or need extra help, we also offer 1:1 coaching to provide personalized support and a Comprehensive Learning program that combines weekly live sessions with group participation.

Parent Involvement Is Key to Success

We understand how important it is for parents to feel involved in their teen’s mental health journey. That’s why our Adolescent DBT Skills Group comes with a strong emphasis on parental support. Research shows that when parents are engaged in their child’s therapy, outcomes improve significantly, and we’re committed to making sure you feel empowered and equipped to help your teen thrive.

As part of this program, parents have access to:

  • A self-paced, 22-week Standard DBT curriculum that mirrors the adolescent course
  • Live parent support sessions at the start of each skills module, designed to give you insights into what your teen will be learning, so you can better support them at home
  • 1:1 coaching sessions if you feel the need for additional guidance, either for yourself or with your teen

Parents can choose to go through the same materials as their teen or opt for our adult curriculum, which follows the same schedule and structure. We also encourage parents who wish to dive deeper into the program to apply for our full adult DBT program in parallel with their teen’s enrollment.

Why Choose TheraHive's Adolescent DBT Skills Group?

We are proud to offer this program, which is specifically tailored to meet the developmental needs of adolescents, while also providing comprehensive support for parents.
