Job Description

The Coaching Apprenticeship Program offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience working alongside an experienced DBT coach. As a Coaching Apprentice, you will support the coach throughout a full 22-week program cycle and receive invaluable mentorship. You will be actively involved in assisting with group sessions, providing feedback to students, and developing your skills as a coach.

While this is an unpaid position, apprentices who complete the program will receive priority consideration for future paid coaching roles at TheraHive.

Responsibilities

• Assist the DBT coach in managing active group sessions and administrative tasks.
• Review and provide feedback on home practice reports submitted by students.
• Monitor student attendance and follow up with students as needed.
• Review and respond to student-submitted VideoAsks.
• Support students by engaging with weekly self-paced content.
• Take on opportunities to lead parts of group sessions under the supervision of the coach.

Requirements

• Strong interest in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and coaching.
• Commitment to completing a full 22-week program cycle.
• Ability to engage with students and support their learning.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently while following the guidance of a mentor coach.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of a full DBT program (either as a student or in a related role).
• Familiarity with DBT skills, including mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness.
• Previous experience in mental health or coaching is desirable but not required.
• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, or related fields preferred but not mandatory.

• Ability to manage time effectively in a remote, self-paced environment.

Working Hours

Our program includes live sessions that take place at regular times each week. Most classes run on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, Thursday midday, and Saturday mornings (Pacific Time). In addition, you must be available to respond to students between live sessions … this can be done on a flexible schedule.

Compensation

This is an unpaid position, however, if you are a licenced practitioner we can award CEU hours for your participation in this program.
